Dear John, Right now, LGBTQ+ people—and especially LGBTQ+ youth—are under relentless attack. From school board policies to state laws, politicians are banning books, censoring classrooms, restricting access to gender-affirming care, and advancing policies that erase and deny LGBTQ+ identities. The hostility is overwhelming. But PFLAG families know this: love and liberty are inseparable. We cannot vote for policies or people who would harm our LGBTQ+ loved ones. That’s why we’re launching Fighting for Our Pride—a campaign to equip, train, and mobilize LGBTQ+ people and their families and allies across the country to push back against harmful policies and fight for the dignity, safety, and rights our loved ones deserve. Together, we will: - Challenge censorship in schools and libraries;
- Defend access to gender-affirming care; and
- Confront anti-LGBTQ+ measures that seek to erase our community.
PFLAG members and supporters are uniquely suited for this moment, because we are fighting for and alongside our LGBTQ+ loved ones. We are family. And when our loved ones are under attack, we rise up. This campaign is about action. While we address every level of government, the focus is on state and local officials, because their decisions affect people’s daily lives the most. We’ll give you the tools to advocate for your loved ones—whether it’s emailing officials, speaking at town halls, rallying outside your statehouse, or testifying before lawmakers. PFLAG National has your back. - Sign up to join us Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 8:30PM ET/5:30PM PT to hear from the PFLAG National Advocacy team, learn about key state and local issues to watch, and discover how you can take action in your community. From contacting lawmakers to speaking out at school board meetings, this event will equip you to advocate effectively and make a meaningful impact.
- Take action today. Demand that your lawmakers support us by opposing discrimination in all forms and supporting policies that protect the dignity, safety, and rights of LGBTQ+ people and their families.
The social and political climate is shifting fast. But so are we. We’re ready to adapt, to organize, and to make sure lawmakers know this: attacks on LGBTQ+ people do not reflect our values, our families, or our future. |
