A Texas judge just handed the gun lobby another gift, friend.

All over the country, gun-rights extremists are pushing their “guns everywhere” agenda through the courts and putting Americans at risk. We should be allowed to go to school, run errands, and worship without the looming fear of bullets flying. Instead, Second Amendment extremists are eroding the protections that keep us safe.

In Texas, the Post Office is the latest place to remove its “Gun Free Zone” signs. 

The state’s dangerous Permitless Public Carry allows nearly anyone to carry a concealed firearm into any public space, with the narrow exception of designated “sensitive places.” Second Amendment extremists are chipping away at what facilities and buildings can be included in the definition of  “sensitive places,” and in Congress, they’re trying to spread permitless concealed carry to every state. The gun industry instills fear into Americans and paints guns as the solution to crime. But the truth is that states with less restrictive concealed carry laws experience increased homicides and violent crime. Despite decades of precedent supporting restricting the carry of firearms in federal buildings, a judge in Texas has deemed the federal prohibitions on firearms in post offices unconstitutional. Gun rights groups are challenging the federal laws that keep important spaces free from intimidation, coercion, and fear. 

Following the Bruen decision in 2022, concealed carry restrictions have been under close criticism from Second Amendment extremists. And if they have their way, there would be concealed guns in every facet of our daily lives, regardless of state laws. No one would be safe.
