Friend, I’m sure you’ve heard the news: A ceasefire deal has been reached for Gaza.

Hostages on both sides have been exchanged, including the remaining Israeli hostages taken on October 7th and over 2,000 Palestinians who have been held indefinitely in Israeli prisons for years. Gazans are returning to the rubble where their homes once stood in areas that have been off-limits for months.

After two long years, I pray that this ceasefire is the real deal, and that the Israeli bombardment of Gaza is finally over.

This is a moment to celebrate after so much loss — but we must remain vigilant until a lasting peace is secured.

The IDF still has troops across the Gaza strip, and just this morning nine Palestinians were shot dead by IDF soldiers as they returned to their homes. The international community must keep up the pressure until Israel withdrawals fully from Gaza and reconstruction efforts are under way. Those who participated in war crimes and genocide must be held accountable.

And looking beyond this moment, there is still much work to do to ensure Palestinian self-determination, sovereignty, and security.

Israel continues to occupy the West Bank and allow settlements to expand, taking away Palestinian homes and territory in an effort to deny Palestinians their own state. Palestinians in the West Bank live under apartheid conditions, subjected to constant civil rights abuses, checkpoints, and segregation. There are still thousands of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons without trial. And Palestinians living within Israel’s borders are still treated as second-class citizens.

That’s why I’m asking you: Take this moment to reaffirm your support for the rights and dignity of Palestinians, and the cause of lasting peace for all in the region.

Over the last two years we have built an incredible movement in defense of Palestinian humanity. More people than ever are educated on this decades-long struggle and we must continue to bring more people into the fold as we fight for the future of Palestine. We have achieved a huge goal with this ceasefire — now we must keep pushing.

So if you are looking to take action today, the next step must be ensuring that as much humanitarian aid and supplies to rebuild get into Gaza as humanly possible:

Halving aid into Gaza would be unacceptable, and I am putting together a petition for my fellow members of Congress and the Trump administration to ensure that this ceasefire is respected and that Israel does not impede the flow of aid. Humanitarian aid must be unconditional and reach every person who has been starved, bombed, and displaced by Israel for the last two years.

Sign on to my petition to show your support for a truly permanent ceasefire and keep up the pressure on Israel to ensure maximum humanitarian aid reaches Gaza. This is one of the most important struggles for justice of our time — momentum is on our side, but we must remain vigilant.
