Dear MoveOn member,
Something powerful is spreading across America, and it's not what the Trump administration wants you or the rest of the world to see.
This Saturday, in 2,578 communities—including many places that don't usually make headlines—ordinary people are choosing hope over fear. We're stepping out of our front doors, finding each other, and remembering something powerful: This country does not belong to kings, dictators, or tyrants; it belongs to us.
We're in the final push to make Saturday's No Kings the biggest day of protest in modern American history—and we need your help to get there.
Will you rush an urgent $9 donation to MoveOn so we're fully prepared for Saturday, can absorb hundreds of thousands of new people into our movement, and make No Kings a historic day in the fight against tyranny? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
You might be wondering: Can protests really make a difference right now?
The answer is a resounding "yes!" While protests aren't enough to stop Trump's tyranny on their own, they are an essential component. Here's what mass mobilizations do:
-
They change the narrative. When thousands show up in every corner of the country, we disrupt the Trump administration's attempt to project inevitability and strength. We show that resistance isn't fringe—it's everywhere and it's growing. As Robert Reich put it: "The Emperor has no clothes."1
-
They bring new people into the movement. Events like this reach neighbors who aren't yet engaged. They help people take that first step and connect with others in their community who are ready to act.
-
They build courage. When people see so many others in the streets, it gives them permission to speak up in their own lives—with family, at work, in their communities. Courage truly is contagious. And right now, we need it spreading everywhere.
-
They give us renewed hope. Saturday will be filled with joy—music, dance, chants, speeches, and solidarity. When you see thousands of others who refuse to accept this as normal, you remember that change is possible and that together, we still have the power to shape what comes next.
Can you chip in $9 to MoveOn to help cover the final expenses for Saturday's protests? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Saturday's No Kings protests, organized by a coalition of groups across the progressive movement, come at a critical moment—as ICE terrorizes communities and disappears more of us, as Trump orders the military to occupy ever more Democratic cities, as Republicans refuse to reopen the government and pay federal workers, as health care costs skyrocket, and as the Supreme Court rubber-stamps Trump's corruption and lawlessness.
We cannot let any of this become normal.
And that’s why Saturday matters so much. When millions of people across 2,578 communities gather on the same day, someone afraid will find courage. Someone alone will find community. Someone ready to give up will decide to keep going. And all of us will remember we're capable of far more than Trump wants us to believe.
That's how movements change history.
See you in the streets.
Thanks for all you do.
–Emma, Noor, Nakia, Matthew, and the rest of the team
P.S. And don’t forget to also RSVP for No Kings in your community if you haven’t already!
