Donald Trump is openly considering invoking the Insurrection Act to override a federal judge who blocked his illegal troop deployments in Chicago.
Let that sink in: the president is threatening to use wartime powers against American cities after the courts told him “no.”
Last week, a judge ruled that Trump’s order to deploy Texas and California National Guard troops into Chicago was unconstitutional. The court said there was “no credible evidence” of rebellion or unrest — the legal threshold for federal intervention. But instead of respecting the ruling, Trump and Hegseth are discussing invoking the Insurrection Act to bypass the courts altogether.
This is authoritarianism, plain and simple. When a leader uses the military to crush dissent, defies judicial limits, and calls local officials “traitors,” democracy stops being a system — and becomes a threat to be neutralized.
Building Blue is fighting back the only way that works — by building real Democratic power in the places MAGA thinks it can bully into submission. We’re helping organize, fund, and defend the Democrats who are standing up to this power grab before it spreads any further.
Trump is daring America to let him get away with it. Let’s prove that we won’t. Rush a donation of $10, $25, or whatever you can to help Building Blue fight back against Trump’s authoritarian overreach and defend our democracy.

Trump is crossing every line — but we can still hold him accountable by fighting where it matters most: in elections, in communities, and in the courts.
Let’s stop this before it becomes the new normal.
