Dear Community,

I’m very excited to announce our next in-person training: How to Win Campaigns and Influence People, a hands-on, three-day intensive on the art of campaign planning led by Ivan Marovic, one of the founders of the Serbian student movement Otpor! and author of The Path of Most Resistance: A Step-by-Step Guide to Planning Nonviolent Campaigns. At the Ayni Institute, we believe we need campaigns that bring the unseen into public view, campaigns that make visible the struggles and suffering that are too often hidden or ignored, and to turn that pain into solutions. We also need campaigns that illuminate what is already popular, that give form, visibility, and power to ideas and values that people already hold but haven’t yet been expressed through collective action.

In other words, we need campaigns that bring light to what is hidden and strength to what is emerging. Campaigns that turn shared concern into organized power, and transform moral majorities into political majorities.

Too often, when people think about “campaigns”, they imagine branding, media, or messaging strategies alone. But the campaigns our times demand are different: they are people-powered campaigns that mobilize large numbers, build public participation, and create political conditions where change becomes inevitable.

Over three days, participants will move step by step through the full campaign-planning process:

- Identifying issues and mapping power
- Developing strategy and sequencing tactics
- Crafting messages that move people
- Preparing for repression, backlash, and difficult political climates

You’ll leave with a working campaign plan, ready to test, refine, and share with your team.

- Activists who have participated in protests or direct actions and want to learn how to plan full campaigns.
- Those curious about the global tradition of civil resistance and how it applies to our current context.

You can come solo or with teammates. Groups are encouraged to attend together.
