Email from American Values Blessed are the peacemakers. Fighting For Faith, Family & Freedom Tuesday, October 14, 2025 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary Bauer The Hostages Are Home Any fair observer must acknowledge that the events over the Columbus Day weekend were absolutely extraordinary! President Trump dominated the global stage in one incredible event after another. In a particularly poignant moment, the president met with families of Israeli hostages, some of whom were still waiting for the bodies of their children to be turned over by Hamas. President Trump’s address to the Knesset was historic in its own way. The reception Trump received from members of the Knesset was far more welcoming and boisterous than he would get during a State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. If you missed the president’s address, you can watch it here. No president has done more to stand with the nation of Israel than Donald Trump. A personal note—I have had several occasions where I have been able to look the president in the eye and say: “Mr. President, I’m sure you know that Israel and the United States are the two pillars of Western Civilization, Judeo-Christian civilization. We must stand together. If either nation falls, the world will sink into another dark age.” He has always been moved by that point, and I think it explains a lot of what we have seen throughout his first term and since his inauguration this January. The Peace Deal While everybody is celebrating the release of the hostages, not everyone is celebrating the peace deal. There are many bad actors in the region with their own agendas. Even some pro-Israel folks have some concerns. But nobody should doubt this: In every decision Donald Trump has made related to Israel, his intentions have always been to make Israel more secure and able to thrive and succeed. You can’t say that about Barack Obama and Joe Biden. And I would argue that you can’t say that about some recent Republican presidents either. Moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem was a huge decision. Every previous president promised to do it but cowardly retreated when they got into office. Donald Trump did what he said he would do. Telling Netanyahu to do whatever he had to do to defend the people of Israel was something Obama and Biden never did. They always tried to restrain him. Trump regularly vetoed hostile U.N. resolutions. Obama and Biden abandoned Israel at the U.N. Trump publicly berated the governments of Western countries that have turned against Israel and endorsed the stupid idea of a so-called “Palestinian state.” Donald Trump took a completely different approach in developing this peace plan. We should all pray it succeeds. But the one thing we can be certain of is that Donald Trump is not trying to hurt or sacrifice Israel. He is trying to make Israel stronger. Following his address to the Knesset, President Trump flew to Egypt where he led a meeting of more than 20 world leaders who have all bought into his Middle East peace plan. Many of the Arab leaders at the meeting have pledged to spend billions rebuilding Gaza. Of course, none of this works if Hamas is allowed to remain armed. Some Aren’t Celebrating What can we learn from those who refuse to celebrate this peace deal? Some Democrats, enough to fit in a small closet, realize this is a major accomplishment and congratulated the president. Most Democrats have said virtually nothing. Why not? You can see the answer in the streets and on our college campuses. They have been filled with anti-Israel radicals and antisemites. This is the growing pro-Hamas wing of the Democrat Party base, who claimed they wanted an end to the war. Where are the demonstrators thanking Donald Trump for bringing an end to the war in Gaza? There were demonstrations but not celebrations that the war had ended. Now, these radicals are demanding an end to the “Israeli occupation.” In other words, they are still demonstrating against Israel and demanding that it be wiped off the earth. Trump Being Trump Every Trump event has multiple Trumpian moments. In one such moment, President Trump, during his address to the Knesset, turned to the president of Israel and said, “I have an idea, why don’t you give Netanyahu a pardon?” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing the same kind of lawfare Donald Trump had to endure from the same left-wing Deep State. Some commentators said Trump’s remark was unacceptable interference in Israeli domestic affairs. But under Obama and Biden, the State Department and USAID secretly spent your tax dollars interfering in Israeli elections, trying to defeat Israel’s conservatives. The same commentators who blasted Trump yesterday said nothing about the Democrat attempts to actually change the government of Israel. The Jewish State Toward the end of his address, President Trump said this: “For thousands of years, Jerusalem has been a home to Christians, Jews, Muslims, and people of all ethnicities and creeds. This is the holy center of the world’s three great Abrahamic faiths. . . Adorned with their sacred sites and alive with their pilgrims and visitors from every corner of the globe. “But here between the Western Wall, the Temple Mount, and the hill called Calvary, people of every faith and background live, work, pray, serve, and raise their family side by side, and they do it with love. This example is just one of the modern miracles that Israel has given to the world.” The president’s words were very poetic and very true. Many of us who study the Bible believe that’s no accident and that this relatively small part of the world will determine the most important events that have not yet happened in the history of mankind. Israel has already played a monumental role in the events of our history, and it will be the site of even more momentous events, the most important of which is the return of the King who will rule for eternity. Just a chronological reminder that many American youth may not have been taught: Jews were living in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria when Washington, D.C., and London were still swamps. In the fulfillment of Jewish prophecy, Christ came into the world several thousand years later. Oh wait, did I skip the Muslims? No, they came 600 years after all of that. So, just to be clear, Muslims and “Palestinians” are not the indigenous people of the Land of Israel and the Holy Land. The Jews are the indigenous people of the Holy Land. Thank You! Just a reminder. Your prayers and generous support of groups like American Values resulted in a second Trump term. We all share in these victories.
