Don’t let them fool you, this shutdown isn’t about “illegals getting healthcare.” It is about: Stopping a vote on the Epstein files.
John,
Today is the 13th day of the government shutdown and there is no foreseeable end in sight.
Legislators should be on the hill right now negotiating the end of the shut down but strangely Speaker Johnson has called off votes and sent lawmakers home.
Don’t let them fool you, the cause of this shutdown isn’t about “illegal immigrants getting healthcare.” It is about about:
Stopping a vote on the Epstein files.
Following the death of Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-NM), Democrats have had a vacancy, leaving Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) one vote off from the 218 majority he needs to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files.
That vacancy has now been filled and as soon as Speaker Johnson swears in the newly elected Adelita Grijalva, the successor to her late father’s seat, Massie and Democrats can force a vote on the files.
For Lauren Boebert this situation puts her political career on the line. For years, she has remained utterly silent on releasing the Epstein files and has done NOTHING for victims. This summer, she felt the pressure and signed the discharge petition. But then Donald Trump gave her a big formal endorsement.
Now, she is in an unimaginable bind. Reveal to the American public the powerful men named in the Epstein files. Or keep the truth about one of the worst crimes in modern US history hidden. Faced with these options her only choice is to let the government stay permanently shutdown.
Even with millions of federal employees, including soldiers, going without pay and the fact that the shutdown could soon trigger a recession, Boebert and the GOP are going to insane lengths to protect themselves and protect a pedophile. Trisha Calvarese, Boebert’s Democratic opponent, won’t.
