Today marks a grim milestone: it's the first payday since the government shutdown - and thousands of federal employees will NOT be receiving their checks.
The people who keep this country functioning — from Social Security offices ensuring seniors get their checks, to those ensuring clean water, caring for veterans, managing parks — are not going to be paid this week. Their bills didn’t pause, rent is still due, and kids still need to eat.
Sadly, this is exactly what Donald Trump and his MAGA minions are counting on. The more disfunction and chaos in the government, the more power they can take. That's why we see mass-firings at the CDC, IRS, the EPA, and more instead of negotiations to re-open the government.
Every day that goes by our democratic institutions get weaker and weaker. That's why we're working tirelessly to elect common sense leaders who can take us out of this mess, defeat MAGA's extreme anti-democracy agenda, and rebuild the federal departments that Donald Trump is currently dismantling.
Our goal is to have 2,000 donations at the half-way point this month. So far, we're at 1,492.
