Dear John,

Late last week, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) published its finalized abortion numbers for 2024.

The results are tragic:

  • 9,860 abortions were carried out during the year.
  • 284 were abortions at or after 23 weeks gestation – a 26% increase from the prior year.
  • 134 abortions were performed at "unknown" gestation, the highest number since 2014.
  • 1,861 were abortions for out-of-state residents.
  • Eastern Oregon’s Malheur County – where 0 abortions took place in 2022 – saw 876 abortions, double the 427 performed in 2023. *This is largely due to the strategic opening of a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Ontario to encourage abortion tourism from Idaho, where state law protects nearly all unborn lives.

The ongoing rise in late-term abortions, and Planned Parenthood's use of Eastern Oregon as an abortion destination, is heartbreaking.

We are deeply saddened for these 9,860 lives ended.

Oregon is clearly moving in the wrong direction. Most Americans on both sides of the political aisle don’t support unlimited abortion. In a recent nationwide survey, 72% of people polled said they believe abortion should only be legal through six months of pregnancy at most, and 67% rejected a position that would put no limits at all on abortion.

But one thing you should know: we are more committed than ever to building an Oregon where every baby is welcomed and supported with real care that affirms life rather than destruction.

And we have so many pro-life partners in Eastern Oregon and elsewhere stepping into the breach to help moms choose life.

Check out this inspiring story we published last year about pro-life sidewalk advocates who promote life-affirming alternatives outside the Ontario abortion facility.

Thank you for being with us in this mission to reestablish protections for the unborn and support moms and families.

Don’t lose hope – together, one step, one conversation at a time, we are working toward pro-life change.

Because everyone deserves an advocate,
