Team, Wes Moore here, Governor of Maryland. On October 1st, the federal government shut down, not by accident, but by choice. Washington failed to govern. We should not be here right now. Here’s the harsh reality: the longer this unnecessary shutdown lasts, the more likely we are to see serious damage in our state and across the country.

Donald Trump and the far-right are accelerating the assault we’ve seen on our people and our economy from Day One of this White House.

No state in the country can fill the gap when the federal government abandons its citizens. But across the nation, my fellow Dem govs and I are doing everything in our power to deliver relief to those who are struggling.

While the federal government may be shut down, state governments are still open – and Dem govs are on the front lines.
