John.

“The word ‘fairness’ is not in the Constitution, correct?”

That’s what Ohio’s Joint Redistricting Committee Chair said during a recent meeting.

Really.

Right now, politicians in Ohio are trying to ram through a new congressional map that will even further gerrymander the state — cherry-picking their voters and disenfranchising millions of people.

Now, they’re saying the quiet part out loud and outright admitting that they’re not trying to be fair when it comes to who gets a voice in our democracy. But statements like this only strengthen our commitment to fairness — and inspire us to fight back with more resolve.

We’re mobilizing volunteers in states like Ohio to hold lawmakers accountable for the cynical, anti-democracy power grabs happening across this country. Will you make a donation to power that work today? → [link removed]

Voters in Ohio haven’t been subtle about what they want. In 2018, Ohioans overwhelmingly approved a bipartisan process for drawing district lines that would end gerrymandering altogether — enshrining a fairer, more transparent process in the state constitution.

Extreme lawmakers have spent the intervening years ignoring that mandate and the courts, passing a gerrymander along party lines in 2022. Now, they want to abuse their power to force through a map that would take away opportunities for both parties to compete.

That’s bad for Ohioans and bad for democracy. And it’s why we’re fighting to send a clear message to lawmakers and stop this extremism from spreading.

You have the power to help us reach voters, organize volunteers, and build power in states from Ohio to Indiana to Texas. → [link removed]
