Dear John,

As we continue to navigate this ongoing pandemic, we hope this finds you, your friends, and all of your families safe and healthy.

With many creatives spending more time writing at home right now, we are excited to announce the next Screenwriting Lab in our series, which will be held in partnership with Familiar Stranger Productions.  Like MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau, Familiar Stranger Productions is rooted in the universal values of the Islamic faith such as unity, mercy, redemption, love, and justice, and together, we are seeking stories that uplift and celebrate those shared values, especially from underrepresented voices in the Muslim community.

Forward Forward

This lab is accepting both Feature Film and Serial/Episodic Television scripts and applications are open to self-identifying Muslim writers of all genres (Comedy, Drama, Autobiographical, Thriller, Children’s Media, etc.). The application deadline is July 28, 2020.  Out of respect for the economic impact of the pandemic, there is no application or lab fee. Please click the link to see all of the qualifications and submission requirements.

The five selected participants will be notified by August 26 and the Lab will be held virtually on September 10, 2020. The selected screenwriters will have their scripts workshopped, practice their pitches, and gain invaluable insight from industry professionals to propel them forward in their writing careers.
