I want to talk with you about the latest job numbers, because working families deserve the truth about what’s happening in our economy.

The August report showed only 22,000 new jobs nationwide when we expected 75,000. Unemployment went up to 4.3%. Even worse, economists had to revise down their job estimates by nearly a million over the past year.

Right now, I’m thinking about parents who are working harder than ever and still struggling to get ahead. I hear from families every week who are doing everything right but can’t seem to catch a break.

We need an economy that works for everyone, not just the super wealthy. That means good-paying jobs, affordable healthcare, and making sure that hard work pays off for every American.
