Last month, the federal government introduced the Combatting
Hate Act (Bill C-9) to strengthen Canada’s response to
hate-motivated crime. Yet questions remain about the implications of
Bill C-9 for our community.
This Community Briefing brings together a panel of leading
criminal law experts to clearly explain the key provisions of Bill C-9
– what it does and does not do – and explore its real-world
implications for protecting vulnerable communities and countering
antisemitism and other forms of hate.
Participants will gain practical insight into the
legislation, learn about key resources to support understanding and
advocacy, and leave better equipped to speak out and advocate for
stronger protections against hate in Canada.
