We’re in the home stretch of the 2025 election in Virginia, and we’re not exaggerating to say that democracy hangs in the balance.

To understand why this election is so critical, look no further than Texas, Missouri, Indiana and Utah. In those states, the GOP controls a majority in the state legislatures. That means that instead of listening to the overwhelming majority of voters who want fair maps, these politicians can try and slice and dice districts to suit their extreme agendas.

That’s why the NDRC has endorsed a slate of Democracy Defenders in Virginia to ensure that the Virginia House of Delegates has a pro-democracy majority come 2026. We’re fighting for a backstop in a key state that we simply can’t afford to see go backward.
