GOP Rep. Zach Nunn in Iowa's 3rd Congressional District
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi John,
Iowa’s 3rd keeps getting more and more competitive, and with momentum
swinging toward Democrats, GOP Rep. Zach Nunn is in real trouble.
First, Nunn tried jumping ship to run in an easier district or for
governor instead, but Trump shut him down. Since then, he’s taken votes
that will hurt his constituents—bringing his record to a career-ending
low:
* He voted for the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” cutting food assistance for
31,000 households and health care for over 24,000 people in his
district.
* He backed Trump’s tariffs—even though they’re crushing Iowa farmers
who rely on imports from Canada.
* And now, his party is enabling Trump’s government shutdown that’s
hurting farmers, small businesses, and thousands of federal workers in
Iowa.
Zach Nunn barely won this seat in 2022 and 2024. Now he’s skipping town
halls to avoid public backlash, and his approval rating is underwater,
with 46% disapproving of his job performance compared to just 32% who
approve. This is a golden opportunity to flip a GOP seat that could make a
big impact on Democrats’ chances of flipping the House, and we can’t waste
it.

Here’s why this district is so flippable:
✅ In 2022, Nunn only won by 2,145 votes, while all Democrats running
statewide carried the district with at least 54% of the vote.
✅ This district includes traditional blue areas like Des Moines and some
competitive rural areas, with nearly 150,000 independent voters.
This seat is winnable for Democrats, but make no mistake: it’s going to be
a very close race where the future Democratic nominee will need the
resources to persuade and engage independent voters, so we can’t afford to
take it for granted.
What we do right now is critical to the outcome of this race. Early
investments and organizing help build local infrastructure, recruit
volunteers, and lay the groundwork for the eventual Democratic nominee to
win.
