Meeting with Government Agencies
While the government is shut down, I am still looking for ways to serve the constituents of the Seventh Congressional District. I was able to meet with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to discuss how each of these agencies are operating during the government shutdown.
In my meeting with the USACE, we discussed funding for some of the projects in my district - one such project is the Fargo-Moorhead flood diversion project. We also discussed their current level of staffing and the assurance of life and safety projects.
I met with the USDA and we discussed the amount of staff they have furloughed during the shutdown and what their plan is for continuing to work with our constituents. I checked in with them on what the Farm Services Agency (FSA) offices and staffing look like, specifically for my district, to ensure the people who need help are still able to get it.
