[link removed] [[link removed]]What I’m doing: I sat down in Kingston with leaders from CWA Local 1120, 1199 SEIU, the New York State Nurses Association, PEF, NYSUT, the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation, and other local unions for a powerful conversation about what Trump’s Big Ugly Betrayal.

This bill is a direct attack on labor, the middle class, and the values that built this country. It slashed federal funding for schools, hospitals, and essential public services, all while handing tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.

We’re fighting back to stop the harm and actually deliver for our country.

At the roundtable, we talked about how the Big Ugly Betrayal and the shutdown will ripple through the Hudson Valley — from our nurses and educators to telecom workers, municipal employees, and beyond. Together, we’re mapping out how to fight back, organize, and prepare for the damage this administration is causing.

The labor movement built the American middle class. Now, Trump is trying to dismantle it piece by piece — and I’m not going to let that happen. I’ll always stand shoulder to shoulder with our unions, because when working people are strong, America is strong.

What I’m doing: After months of pressure, the inpatient medical unit at the Castle Point VA in Wappingers Falls is finally back open. This 20-bed facility serves some of our most vulnerable veterans — men and women who have worn the uniform and deserve the highest standard of care. When the clinic suddenly closed back in February, veterans were forced to travel long distances for treatment, disrupting care and putting unnecessary burdens on those who’ve already sacrificed so much.

I stood shoulder to shoulder with veterans, their families, and community advocates to demand its reopening. We made sure the Trump Administration knew that cutting care for veterans is unacceptable. Today, our voices were heard — and the clinic is open once again.

This fight is about more than one facility. It’s about standing up to Trump’s deep betrayals of those who have served our country. We owe our veterans not just gratitude, but action — and I’ll never stop fighting to ensure they get the care they’ve earned.

The Trump Administration has been one betrayal after another. Cutting health care for people who need it to fund tax cuts for the top 1%. Ripping away constitutional freedoms and deploying troops in American cities, against Americans. Ten months into his Administration, we are less safe, less free, and less prosperous when we were before.

As the Patriotic Majority, we must SPEAK OUT and make sure everyone knows this.
