Dear John,
A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog about the racial unrest that has overtaken our country since the death of George Floyd in May. In it, I discussed how we as life-loving Christians should appropriately and productively respond to acts of injustice and violations of human dignity, and how our society can move forward. If you missed it, you can catch-up here: www.humancoalition.org/we-stand-for-dignity
Since that time, another trend is growing in all aspects of our society in response to the continued unrest. It is the effort to effectively re-write history by discarding anything that could be perceived as offensive to certain groups of people – whether it be statues, paintings, or school traditions.
While some may have good intentions, some seem to be seeking to take advantage of the situation. Regardless, we must ask ourselves an important question: will these actions really solve issues of devaluing human dignity?
