Ackerman-Barger will lead the school’s efforts to create a diverse and welcoming setting in which to learn, work, and collaborate.

Thirty-Four States Now Part of the Nurse Licensure Compact
As of July 1, Indiana became the 34th state to join the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), which allows for registered nurses and licensed practical/vocational nurses to have one multistate license, with the privilege to practice in their home state and other NLC states without obtaining additional licenses. AARP Indiana and the Indiana Center for Nursing were among forces behind the success.
Nurses Share about the Personal Psychological Impacts of COVID-19
According to a new study, nurses and nurse practitioners reported experiencing symptoms of acute stress while working on the front lines at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City in April 2020. However, these same clinicians also reported feeling an increased sense of meaning and purpose during this same time. The study was conducted by researchers at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian.
After careful consideration for the health and safety of all participants, the Root Cause Coalition announced that its 2020 National Summit on the Social Determinants of Health will move to a fully virtual format. The meeting will be held on October 5-7, between 1-4:30 p.m. ET each day. Register
How to Support Clinician Well-Being During COVID-19
On May 7, the National Academy of Medicine's (NAM) Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience engaged nurses, physicians, health care leaders and students on the critical need to support the emotional well-being of front-line clinicians during the pandemic and beyond. Launched in 2017, the
Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience is a network of more than 200 organizations committed to reversing trends in clinician burnout. The event was a webinar, moderated by Darrell Kirch, MD, co-chair of the Campaign for Action’s Strategic Advisory Committee.

New - Commonwealth Fund's Medicaid Program Seeks Letters of Intent
The Fund’s program on Medicaid is issuing a request for proposal that address health equity for Medicaid beneficiaries, including social determinants of health, and the impact of COVID-19 on Medicaid beneficiaries, providers, and care delivery innovations at the state level. Deadline: July 31, 1 p.m. ET.
The American Nurses Foundation and other nursing organizations are conducting a series of national surveys to gather nurses’ experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. This first survey is focused on nurse mental health and well-being. Your responses will inform how these groups can best support nurses during this time.
