As a Knoxville Native, Finbarr Saunders, cares deeply about Knoxville. He served on City Council and as vice-mayor, among a plethora of other community service activities. These days, he spends a lot of time on his bicycle and enjoying the beautiful area we call home. He supports the ½ cent sales tax increase and recently wrote an opinion piece entitled “A Knoxville neighbor’s case for the sales tax increase” that appeared the Knoxville News Sentinel on Oct. 6 and can be found here. Our neighboring counties did this many years ago including Sevier, Blount, Anderson, Jefferson and Grainger. Groceries, rent, utilities, prescriptions, gas and doctor’s visits will not be affected. More neighborhood projects to support our growing city like greenways, parks, sidewalks near schools and affordable housing.
