Hi friend,
Last week, we held our first grassroots donor call, and the conversation left me with a feeling I think a lot of people are searching for right now: hope.
I heard from a farmer in Idaho making clear he’d rather have a sane economic policy than get bailouts in exchange for not being able to sell his product due to Trump’s tariffs. A woman from Kansas described how she helped revive a local Democratic Party in a rural area where hundreds of Democrats each thought they were alone. There were people in towns and cities across the country there to discuss what more they can do – not waiting for someone else to fix things, but stepping forward themselves.
That’s what gives me hope.
I understand why “hope” has fallen out of fashion in politics these days. But the reality is that our country has faced darker times than these, and overcome them. Not because people waited for hope to arrive, but because they acted. They organized; they shaped history; they built something new.
I grew up in a city that many had written off as one of America’s dying communities. But South Bend came back — not because someone from the outside swept in to save it, but because people turned to face the future, worked together, and refused to give up on the place we called home.
Now, as a parent, I see that same lesson in a new light. I think about what kind of country my kids will inherit, and I find hope in knowing that the choices we make today – the courage we show right now – can decide what kind of world they grow up in.
That’s what hope looks like in practice. And it’s at the heart of what we’re doing at Win the Era: turning determination into progress, and lifting up the next generation of leaders ready to carry it forward.
If you believe, as I do, that the story of this country is still being written – and that it can still bend toward fairness and decency – then I’m asking you to be part of that work. Chip in today to help us keep building this movement and investing in the leaders who will carry it forward:
