[1]Talarico for Texas
John —
When I was first elected, I made a rare decision in Texas politics. I was
the only member of the legislature to reject corporate PAC money.
I was confronted with the same decision when I decided to run for the U.S.
Senate. This will be the most expensive race I’ve ever run. There are
plenty of corporate PACs willing to give big donations for access and
influence.
But I’m not changing my decision. I refuse to take their money. The people
I serve will never have to wonder who I’m fighting for.
[ [link removed] ]That’s why I’m counting on people like you to fuel our campaign. Please
consider making a contribution today. I can’t do this alone.

Refusing to accept corporate PAC checks was not easy. When I got to the
House, I suddenly had a bunch of new “best friends.” And they all had lots
of money. Money that came with expectations.
I refused to be part of it. In our broken political system, it’s harder
than ever to know whether your leaders are fighting for you or are just
puppets for their mega-donors.
Even when they sent me unsolicited checks, I returned the money. Thousands
of dollars. Check out this tweet from my first term back in 2019:
[ [link removed] ]I promised not to accept donations from corporate PACs so I returned
$3,500 in PAC checks. It's hard to refuse money with an empty bank
account, but I believe in our people-powered campaign.
If they send me checks again in this race, I’ll send them back. I won’t be
part of their corrupt system. My vote is not for sale.
This campaign is of and for the people. So I need to ask
you, John:
[ [link removed] ]Will you please make a donation to our campaign today? Texas is a
massive state, and the super PACs that want to buy this seat have war
chests loaded with corporate money. Anything you can give will help.

We’re building this grassroots movement together. Let’s make it one that
we can be proud of.
