I know what our families are going through right now. I have spoken with parents who are worried about paying their bills during this shutdown, workers wondering when their next paycheck will come, and seniors who feel abandoned while Washington grinds to a halt. These are real people’s lives that House Republicans are playing games with during the shutdown.
They want healthcare premiums to spike, which means people are going to get sick and not be able to afford the care they need.
This is a House Republican shutdown; no one else is to blame. They control the House, the Senate, and the White House, yet they cannot manage to govern. They created this chaos because they do not want to deal with this looming, massive healthcare cost hike. I came to Congress to address the high cost of living. They are asking us to cave on healthcare, on protecting working families, and on the values that make New Jersey strong. We will not do it.
This is exactly why we need a Democratic House, because healthcare is not a bargaining chip. Because families should not pay the price for political games. And because our community deserves leaders who can deliver real solutions instead of endless dysfunction.
