Democrat-Led Government Shutdown

Our nation depends on a functioning government that delivers stability for those who serve and those who work every day to build our economy. Countless associations—from farmers to manufacturers to small business groups—have warned Congress of the damage this shutdown is causing. Their message is clear: America cannot afford this stalemate. We did our job in the House by passing a clean CR. Now, the Senate must act to reopen the government.

Standing Strong for American Manufacturing

In an interview with Washington Reporter, I discussed the recent 25% tariff on imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks, a decisive move by President Trump to fortify American manufacturing. As Chairman of the House Small Business Committee and a longtime car dealer, I understand the importance of protecting our domestic industry and investing in the competitiveness of our workforce. This policy not only safeguards American businesses but also ensures they have the opportunity to thrive, innovate, and lead. Remembering October 7th

On this October 7th, we paused to remember and honor the innocent lives lost in the horrific terrorist attacks against Israel. The pain and grief from that day remain heavy, and we stand with the families who continue to mourn their loved ones. We also stand resolute in our commitment to Israel’s security and its right to defend itself against those who seek its destruction. This solemn anniversary is also a moment to reaffirm our pursuit of peace. The recent 20-point proposal put forth by President Donald Trump is already delivering results, bringing hostages home safely. This agreement represents a meaningful step forward in protecting lives and supporting the people of Israel during this difficult time. Let us never forget the victims of October 7th, and let us rededicate ourselves to ensuring that freedom, safety, and peace prevail in the region.

In Case You Missed It!

I joined NewsNation Now with Connell McShane to highlight what the government shutdown means for Main Street. From SBA loans to military pay, real people are bearing the cost. A clean CR is the way forward. House Republicans did our job—we’re ready to get back to work.

I spoke on NewsNation Morning with America to talk about the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on everyday Americans. It’s time for Democrats to come to the table so we can reopen the government. Main Street is being hurt - small businesses cannot access SBA loans, and restaurants, shops, and communities are feeling the strain.
