Friends, as we near two weeks of government shutdown, I’ve introduced new legislation:
The Federal Employee Civil Relief Act would protect federal workers and federal contractor employees — and their families — from foreclosures, evictions, and loan defaults during a shutdown.
The fact is, more than half a million federal workers are going without pay — through no fault of their own — and many are trying to figure out how to pay their rent, mortgage, car payment, or countless other bills.
This legislation would protect folks from losing their homes or defaulting on payments through a government shutdown and give them a 30-day period to keep up with their bills once the government reopens.
I’m proud that this bill has the support of our union partners, including the National Treasury Employees Union, American Federation of Government Employees, UNITE HERE, the Transport Workers Union, and many more.
I’d like to ask for your support, too — because public pressure can make a real difference in getting things done right now.
Please add your name in support of my new legislation to protect federal workers from evictions, foreclosures, and loan defaults during government shutdowns. [[link removed]]

These are hardworking public servants who aren’t receiving a paycheck through circumstances they didn’t create — and we owe it to them to protect their livelihoods.
Thanks for your support. I really appreciate you.
