News From Congressman Bilirakis

October 12, 2025

Dear Neighbor,

As your representative, I remain committed to keeping you informed about the work I'm doing on your behalf in Washington and here at home. From addressing the ongoing government shutdown to supporting our veterans, first responders, and survivors of domestic violence, I’m working to ensure our community’s needs are heard and met. Thank you for staying engaged and for being a vital part of this conversation.  Continue reading to learn more about my efforts last week.

Pushing the Senate to Immediately Reopen the Government:  The effects of the ongoing government shutdown continue to harm American families, small businesses, and Veterans while disrupting essential government services. The Trump Administration has taken creative steps to minimize the damage—most notably by using tariff proceeds to keep the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program funded.  While I applaud this effort to protect such a critical service, it’s time for Senate Democrats to put aside political games and vote to immediately reopen the government.

Learning from You:  Thank you to the more than 9,500 neighbors who joined my recent telephone town hall! I truly appreciate your thoughtful questions and feedback. Your input helps shape my work and ensures your voice is heard in Washington.  During our conversation, we discussed a range of important issues—from the high cost of healthcare to the impacts of the shutdown—and reviewed how legislation like the Big Beautiful Bill is helping support working families. Celebrating Historic Peace Agreement:  As Co-Chair of the Congressional Hellenic Israel Alliance and the International Religious Freedom Caucus, I applaud the historic peace agreement in the Middle East. This milestone would not have been possible without the steadfast leadership of President Trump along with Secretary of State Rubio, whose tireless efforts and strategic diplomacy brought both sides to the table and made this breakthrough a reality. The return of hostages to their families is a deeply moving and long-overdue outcome, and a vital step toward healing. My prayer is that this agreement marks a turning point—one that reaffirms the power of American leadership and the enduring pursuit of peace, security, and religious freedom in the region. I remain committed to working with our allies to support the continued implementation of this agreement and the broader vision it represents.

Supporting Law Enforcement:  It was a pleasure to attend the Pasco County Big Blue BBQ and stand in solidarity with our brave law enforcement officers and their families. This community event was a wonderful opportunity to express our appreciation and gratitude to those who serve and protect us every day.

I am also proud to cosponsor the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act (H.R. 2094), which will provide law enforcement officers with the opportunity to achieve homeownership without the burden of a down payment or monthly mortgage insurance premiums. This is a small step we can take to support those who protect us every day.

Helping Our Heroes:  I’m proud to host an upcoming Veterans Resource Fair on November 1st, designed to connect veterans and their families with the support and services they deserve.  RSVP today to attend and share with anyone who might benefit!

Raising Awareness:  This October, we stand with survivors of domestic violence and honor their resilience. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and heard. Let’s break the silence, support survivors, and work together to end the cycle of abuse.

Community Connection

I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.

My team participated in the Hurricane Long Term Recovery Group’s Quarterly Meeting, where they discussed the ongoing and unmet needs facing our community in the wake of recent storms. I remain deeply committed to ensuring that every individual and family impacted by these disasters receives the support they need for a full and lasting recovery.

My team also had a great time connecting with local entrepreneurs and small business leaders during the recent Hernando County Business-to-Business Forum. These conversations are vital in helping us better understand the challenges and opportunities facing our local economy—and in shaping policy that supports job growth, innovation, and economic resilience.

Additionally, my team was proud to join in celebrating the grand opening of The ARC of the Nature Coast’s new facility, which will provide essential services and support to adults with developmental disabilities across our region.

Constituent Corner

My team recently received this message from a constituent after helping a local Veteran in need of support.

Dear Congressman Bilirakis,

I am extending my sincere thanks to you and your staff!  Your assistance resulted in the successful resolution to the issue we were having regarding a veterans homecare program. I’m so grateful that we have a representative like you looking out for our best interests!

This  is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office.  The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape.  Also, if you are planning a trip to Washington, DC please let us know 90 days in advance so we can help make the most of your visit.   We are here to serve you!

Sincerely,
