John,

Not long ago, Pete Hegseth stood before senior military leaders and delivered what can only be described as a political pep rally. We’ve seen a lot of political theater over the years, but what happened recently wasn’t just another headline, and we shouldn’t treat it as such.

I was recently quoted in this article [[link removed]] from the Boston Globe. Here’s the rundown:

* I called Hegseth’s address “borderline fascist.”
* I accused Hegseth of using the speech as a political pep rally and defended the role of inspectors general as essential to protecting principled and honest leaders in the military.
* I said the speech’s authoritarian tone says more about Hegseth’s insecurity than real strength.

As a Marine veteran and U.S. citizen, I know how dangerous it is when politics seeps into the chain of command. When military briefings turn into campaign rallies, when accountability is treated as the enemy, and when public service is twisted into partisan performance, we all lose.

I’ve always believed leadership means putting country before politics. If you agree, I’m asking you to stand with me. Chip in to help us defend that principle and keep this fight going. [[link removed]]
