Our country is facing steep challenges right now.

Like you, I believe that this moment requires bold leadership from our elected officials. But it seems like some in Washington are trying to use these challenges to score political points and play partisan games.

Look, I’m not a career politician. I’m a proud veteran and civil servant who ran for Congress out of a desire to serve my community as a strong, independent voice in Washington. That same commitment is driving me as I run for re-election.

But John, our dark money funded opponents are working hard to replace me with the kind of hyper-partisanship we’ve all grown so tired of. That’s why they’ve spent so much money to unseat me, and that’s why I’m coming to you today.

I’m committed to remaining that independent voice I’ve always been, but I need your help to keep me in that position. Can you keep my team in a strong position by chipping in whatever you can today?

Our country has faced seemingly insurmountable challenges before.
