Hello,
We’re just one week away from the “No Kings” day of action. We must come together nonviolently, to show our unity and stand up against chaos, corruption and cruelty.
Will you join us next Saturday at a “No Kings” event? Click here to find one near you.
The last few weeks have shown how far President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are willing to go.
They’ve deployed federal troops in the streets of Chicago; Portland, Ore.; and Washington, D.C. They’ve indicted political opponents on bogus charges. They’ve sent in masked agents to raid buildings, zip-tie children in the middle of the night and harass our communities. They’re trying to force colleges and universities to sign loyalty oaths. They’ve shut down the government, refusing to fix the healthcare crisis they created.
These actions show just how vulnerable our democracy is.
At every turn, this president has undermined the rule of law, weaponized the federal government against the people it should serve, and divide and silence us. And now, the same far-right groups that cheered his chaos are smearing those of us who are organizing peacefully for justice—just as they did with past “Hands Off” and “No Kings” protests.
We have to ask: What are they afraid of? Maybe it’s that Americans are seeing the truth—that the promises they made to working families, like lowering prices of everyday goods, have been broken. We’re done paying the price.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, in small towns and big cities across the country, we’ll send a clear message to Trump and those who enable his cruelty: This country belongs to all of us—the people who care, who show up, and who fight every day for dignity, a life we can afford and real opportunity.

We will rise together—peacefully and powerfully—to defend our freedoms and our right to a democracy. We refuse to stand by while this administration takes away our freedoms, abandons public education, makes college less affordable, kicks millions off healthcare, takes food from hungry children and wages war on workers’ rights—all to give massive tax cuts to big corporations and billionaires.

When we stand together we can accomplish what is impossible to do alone. And together, we’ll show that there are NO KINGS in America. I will be there. I hope to see you out there!
In unity,
Randi Weingarten
AFT President
