Things feel tough right now. And they are — I’m not going to sugarcoat it. It seems like every day, new attacks on democracy crop up across the country, and they’re happening all at once.

Here’s the thing: Their goal is to overwhelm us. To break our resolve so that they can remake our government to insulate themselves from voters and protect their own power. 

I refuse to let that happen. When I look back at the NDR PAC's almost decade-long history fighting for a stronger, fairer democracy, I can say with certainty that this is the toughest moment we’ve faced yet. But our movement is also the strongest we’ve ever been. 

It’s easy to stand up for what you believe when nothing is at risk. The real test of our values and our resolve comes when things get challenging and the deck is stacked against us.

The support of people like you shows just how strongly the American people reject the GOP power grabs sweeping the nation. So I’m asking: Will you make a donation to power the NDR PAC's work for the critical months ahead?

John, the folks on the other side — the people who are desperately trying to grab power at the expense of the American voters — they’ve got seemingly unlimited resources. It might feel like we simply can’t keep up with their cynical, deep-pocketed schemes.

And we don’t have to. We have something they don’t: Principles. The law. The Constitution. The American people.

Whenever it feels the most dire, I look at our progress and am reminded that we can and will prevail — for instance:

• The fair maps movement just scored a victory in Utah, where a court threw out an egregiously gerrymandered map. The newly redrawn map could make Utah more competitive and flip at least one district.
• We’ve endorsed some incredible Democracy Defenders in states like Virginia and Pennsylvania ahead of this November’s election, and we’ve had a strong track record of ensuring pro-democracy candidates win critical state-level elections. 
• In our first five years as an organization, we helped stop and reverse unfair maps that took power away from the voters. The New York Times said the last midterms were conducted on “the fairest House map of the last 40 years.” 

Don’t let the stunning display of cynical partisanship we’re seeing play out among Republicans right now fool you — when we fight, we can win.
