Another day, another lie from President Trump about COVID-19.
During his Fourth of July speech last weekend at the White House, President Trump suggested the virus was “totally harmless” to 99 percent of those affected.
This stat simply is not true. During this crisis, President Trump has routinely downplayed scientific evidence that shows the pandemic is a serious public health emergency. He has even sidelined a trusted voice, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has worked diligently to warn the American public of the dangers they face despite interference from the Trump administration.
A public health emergency such as the COVID-19 crisis requires a strong federal response. But instead, we get a narcissistic president more worried about re-election than preserving public health. Health care leaders such as Dr. Fauci should be at the forefront of our efforts to fight this crisis, not on the sidelines -- don’t you agree? Tell us now:
