Did you see the news that Donald Trump has now begun mass layoffs of our federal workers? And that’s on top of his harmful shutdown because he refuses to work with Democrats to solve our healthcare crisis and fund the government.
Federal workers aren’t political bargaining chips. They’re the ones who take care of our veterans, protect our national security, conduct life-saving research at federal laboratories, and so much more.
Here in Colorado’s 7th, we have a huge concentration of federal workers in our district — over 6,000 in total. These are friends, family, and neighbors who clock in each and every day to do the work that, far too often, is taken for granted by some extreme politicians.
But Donald Trump’s government shutdown has left these workers in limbo — with no idea of when their next paycheck will come through. The Trump Administration and their allies are even floating the idea of withholding their backpay – and that’s on top of the cruel mass layoffs they have already undertaken.
It’s horrific — and it’s all part of Donald Trump’s project to gut the federal government for his own gain and make it work for him , not us.
I’m not going to sit back while Trump takes a wrecking ball to our national security, our veterans, and our emergency preparedness, but I need you standing with me. Will you sign your name to my new petition urging Republicans to finally come to the negotiating table and end this shutdown? [[link removed]]

This shutdown isn’t an accident. It’s intentional. And it’s impacting every single one of us — not just federal workers.
Air traffic controller shortages — exacerbated by Trump’s shutdown — are creating chaos at airports across the country. Even some claims for Social Security and Medicaid benefits could be impacted.
Playing politics with the American people’s livelihoods is reprehensible — and it needs to end.
