We’re writing to inform you that paid signature gatherers are pushing people to sign onto two new harmful initiatives in Washington. These initiatives threaten the privacy and safety of all students, and single out vulnerable transgender and LGBTQ+ kids. We need your help to defeat these measures and protect all students by declining to sign today [[link removed]] .

The hedge fund millionaire who was behind a slew of bad initiatives in 2024 is backing two new ones (IL26-001 and IL26-638) that threaten the safety, privacy, and dignity of not only trans and LGBTQ+ school-aged kids, but all Washington students .

One initiative will repeal The Safety Act and roll back a key student privacy law, while the other is a trans youth in sports ban that would force all girls who want to play on a team with their friends to undergo invasive physical and medical examinations.

These initiatives would:

* violate student privacy
* roll back Washington's successful inclusive sports policy
* restrict student access to counselors and mental health support
* subject all girls who wish to play with their friends on a school team to invasive and costly physical examinations; and
* expose public schools to costly lawsuits, and increase stigma and bullying in classrooms across the state.

Now more than ever, we must act to protect all students, regardless of their gender identity. Senate Democrats encourage you to decline to sign IL26-638 and IL26-001 today. Sign the pledge to say NO THANKS when paid signature gatherers ask you to sign these harmful initiatives [[link removed]] !

These measures are simply another attempt to sow division and distract from the real issues facing students and families . Instead of wasting time on divisive scare tactics, we should focus on ensuring schools are safe, welcoming, and well-funded for every student.
