Hi Herbert,

My name is Tony Montalto, President of Stand With Parkland. Seven years ago, 17 innocent lives were taken at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. One of them was my 14-year-old daughter, Gina.

Gina was compassionate, artistic, kind, and bubbly. Having her murdered at her school was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to face. But her memory spurs me forward to take action so that no other parent ever has to worry about losing their child to violence at school.

Herbert, I’m not helping to build this movement for notoriety. And I definitely never wanted to be a policymaker.

I’m doing this for the kindergartners learning how to sound out hard words for the first time.

I’m doing this for the 7th graders navigating changes with their friends.

I’m doing this for our nation’s high school juniors narrowing down their top choices for college.

And I’m doing this for the teachers, counselors, janitors, and administrators who come to work every day to create a positive learning environment for your kids.

Every child deserves to walk into school without fear and walk back out at the end of the day safe and sound. My team and I are working every day to advocate for stronger threat assessment programs and better mental health support to prevent the tragedies that have already taken too much from too many families.

But we can’t do it alone.

Every step forward, every conversation with policy makers or lawmakers, every school that adopts new safety measures — it all depends on the grassroots support of people like you.

Will you stand with me today to protect our children and honor the memory of those we’ve lost? Help us make your voice heard. Your support helps us continue this critical work and ensures that families like yours can send their kids to school without fear. [[link removed]]
