Hi Friend,

The healthcare industry is dysfunctional and outdated. Health care is one of the largest sectors of our economy, yet it’s the least transparent.

Think about it: in what other marketplace do you buy a product or service without seeing the price upfront? The rise of technology has only made it easier to shop around and compare prices.

That’s why it is so important that you speak up and let your senators know you support “The Healthcare PRICE Transparency Act.”

This price transparency bill would bring transparency, accountability, and competition to the healthcare industry.

The Healthcare PRICE Transparency Act would allow you to see the full prices of healthcare services before you get care, giving you greater control and choices, causing providers to compete for your business.

The costs of healthcare services, procedures, and tests can vary by location and provider, and it should be up to you to decide how, where, and with whom you get care.

In California, an appendectomy can cost anywhere between $1,529-$186,955, depending on where it was performed. Study after study shows there is widespread variation in what different hospitals charge for the same medical procedures.

This is why we need price transparency in health care now.

The proposed bill is an important step toward a truly consumer-centric, price-competitive, fully functional healthcare marketplace.

If passed and signed into law, price transparency would be the law of the land, providing us with greater freedom and flexibility over our health care.

Competition is good. It’s the basis of our economy and marketplaces for every other industry. And it’s time the healthcare industry caught up.

Urge your senators to support the Healthcare PRICE Transparency Act.

Thanks,

Carrie Lukas
