These emails are the best way for our campaign to stay in touch with supporters like you. If you'd prefer, you can unsubscribe here. Hi John, it's Raja Krishnamoorthi, Democrat for Senate. I’m sure you're getting a lot of emails from a lot of campaigns right now, and in a moment, I am going to ask you to chip in ahead of our critical midnight deadline. >> But first, can I quickly reintroduce myself and tell you a bit about my story? I’m a racial, religious, ethnic minority immigrant with 29 letters in my name. Growing up in Peoria, Illinois, I sometimes felt like an outsider because of my identity. My mother always dressed in a sari. My parents spoke Tamil, a South Indian language, most of the time. We even traveled with our rice cooker. My immigrant parents worked night and day to give us a better life, but we fell on hard times. So, we lived for a time in Public Housing and relied on Food Stamps to eat. And eventually with a lot of hard work, help from our community and these essential government programs, we achieved our American Dream. But the truth is, everything that made that story possible is under threat right now. Donald Trump is deploying masked agents into the streets to destroy the lives of so many immigrant families. He spreads fear and hate towards anyone who looks different or comes from a different background. He’s destroying essential programs like Public Housing and Food Stamps. And like many of you, I’m completely fed up with this insanity. Every night at the dinner table my parents would tell me: “Think of the greatness of this country. Whatever you do, make sure this country is there for the next families who need it.” That’s why I’m running for Senate. Because if we don’t take urgent action, this country as we know it may cease to be there for the next families who need it.
Thank you for your support, Raja
