Democrat, The Democratic Primary Election is tomorrow -- Tuesday, July 7 -- but as you know, voting has been happening for the last few weeks by mail. The COVID-19 crisis has changed how our elections are run and Governor Phil Murphy made the right choice in opting for a hybrid election that encourages voting by mail but also offers options for in-person voting. Now, it’s up to you to make sure your voice is heard! If you have not yet mailed in your ballot you still have time. All ballots must be postmarked by July 7 to be counted, so make sure to drop yours in the mail right away. You can also drop off your ballot at your County Clerk’s office on Tuesday, or drop your ballot at a secure ballot dropbox. Contact your County Clerk for more information or any questions.
In person voting will also be available on Tuesday, with a limited number of polling places open from 6am to 8pm. Please note that all in person voting will be done by paper provisional ballot, except for disabled voters who will be able to use an accessible machine . Proper social distancing measures must be taken when inside polling places, so make sure to wear a mask or face covering, keep six feet apart from other voters and take advantage of hand sanitizer or other items that are provided.
Voting is the bedrock of our democracy, and even in times of crisis like the one we are in now it’s important to make our voices heard and exercise our right to vote. As Democrats we understand that while we may not agree on every issue, tomorrow marks a turning point when we must come together and shift our focus to the task at hand -- defeating Donald Trump and his Republican enablers like Jeff Van Drew, Chris Smith and all of the candidates who will be running with Trump this November.
You will be hearing much more from us soon on how we can all work to restore honor, decency and competency to the White House. Until then, make sure to vote in the Democratic Primary election and get ready for the biggest election of our lives.
