Email from 40 Days for Life Go out and pray...NOW! John, Today is the busiest abortion day of the week. Far more unborn babies are killed on Saturday than on any other day. So why not grab your coffee to go and join the 40 Days for Life vigil? 40daysforlife.com/locations Even many committed pro-lifers don't fully grasp the magnitude of the abortion crisis. Yvonne in California quizzed attendees of a 40 Days for Life prayer rally on the world's leading cause of death. Volunteers deliberated over whether it was heart disease or cancer...but globally, abortion ends more lives than all other causes of death combined! The 40 Days for Life team in Dayton/Kettering, Ohio, is making sure the community knows what's at stake by planting crosses in front of the local abortion business. "The crosses on the grass represent the estimated 80 babies killed here each week," wrote Debbie, the campaign leader. Vigil participants were delighted recently when they arrived at the vigil and found Planned Parenthood closed for the day! "No babies were killed by abortion in Kettering today," Debbie said. "PRAISE GOD." Lincoln, Nebraska Kalika had scheduled an oil change just across the street from Planned Parenthood, so she stopped to pray at the 40 Days for Life vigil. While she was there, a couple arrived at the abortion facility seeking an ultrasound. Kalika encouraged them to go to the pregnancy help center for a free ultrasound, but they proceeded into Planned Parenthood anyway...before exiting again just a few minutes later. "They do free ultrasounds across the street?" the woman asked on her way out. "My doctor thinks I'm having a miscarriage." Thanks be to God, the baby's heartbeat is strong. But the mother's risk of miscarriage is elevated, so please keep this family in prayer. "It's hard to say [whether] this couple was at risk of an abortion," Kalika said. "You never know what they might have agreed to if Planned Parenthood had told them the ultrasound didn't look good." Windsor, Ontario Canada is a tough place to be pro-life these days, but prayer can save lives even where voters and politicians won't. Keturah is leading her first 40 Days for Life campaign near a hospital that does abortions in Windsor, and she recently hosted a successful prayer rally to exhort local pro-lifers to pray and fast for an end to abortion. "We had a great turnout," she said. "The end of the night was abuzz with strategies of how people could get their friends, families, and coworkers to come pray with us. The Lord is at work!" But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. --Luke 6:27-28 Lord, you showed friendship to the sinners and outcasts. You have been merciful in offering friendship to me. I long for true friendship with you and a Christ-centered friendship with those who need me. Let me show your kindness to those who fight against the right to life. Let me be understanding of their misguided intentions and own experiences. Let me be a bridge over which people may cross to your truth, goodness, and love.
