This week's conversation will be all about racism in the care economy, and we want to hear your perspectives.

John,

Being anti-racist is not a passive act nor is doing the work ever over. Anti-racism requires that we interrogate the ways in which we uphold anti-Blackness. In our anti-racism 101 discussion last week, we agreed to better understand how every system, including the care system, upholds white supremacy and anti-Black racism and to use that understanding to transform our society.

We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who attended last Thursday’s anti-racism 101 training! We are thankful for how present and open everyone was to the concepts presented. We are also grateful for our collective thinking regarding how the care system is rooted in the legacy and reverberations of slavery.

We also made a commitment to continue this work together which is why we are thrilled to see you next Wednesday July 8 at 4 pm Pacific / 7 pm Eastern for our Anti-Racism 201: Race and the Care Economy.

Additionally, we will be hosting a conversation about Systemic Racism and Nursing Homes on our Facebook page, as part of our Caregiver Corner series of live broadcasts, on Friday, July 10 at 1 pm Eastern. Sign up here for a reminder to tune in to that conversation.

In our 201 training we will explore how many of the injustices and inequities in the care infrastructure are rooted in the very violent foundations of our country. Let’s unearth the past so we can build a better future.

If you weren't able to join us last week for our Anti-Racism 101 training, you're still welcome to join us for the 201 session. RSVP for the Anti-Racism 201 training here.

See you next week!

Onward,
