Dear neighbor,

It’s been over a week since the Republican government shutdown began. More critical services continue to be put on pause, our armed servicemembers, TSA agents, and thousands of federal workers are working without pay, and healthcare for millions of Americans is on the line right now.

This week, Speaker Johnson refused to call us into session to end the shutdown, so I came home to CA-31. I visited El Proyecto Del Barrio, a community clinic in Azusa, to tour their facilities and speak with staff about the detrimental impacts that Medicaid cuts will have on their patients.

Over 300,000 people in CA-31 rely on Medi-Cal for healthcare services. If Medi-Cal funding is cut, are you worried about the impact it would have on our healthcare system?

Regardless of a government shutdown, my office will be open to assist you. If you need assistance, please reach out to us at (626) 646-0369. Go to my website for an updated list of the federal services impacted by the government shutdown.

As we head into week two of the government shutdown, more government services and agencies continue to close their doors to the public. My office is still open and operating during normal office hours. My team is monitoring casework and constituent services with the corresponding federal agencies to ensure we can serve the residents of CA-31 as best we can. But, this shutdown needs to end. Too many Americans are having their lives disrupted.

Our servicemembers, critical federal employees like TSA agents and air traffic controllers, and so many others are working without pay or being furloughed. Republicans need to end their vacation, get back to D.C. and do their jobs, so the rest of America can resume their lives, keep their healthcare, and see their paychecks.

300,000+ people in CA-31 rely on Medi-Cal for life-saving healthcare. I stopped by El Proyecto Del Barrio to speak with patients and providers about how Medi-Cal funding cuts would impact them.

I joined the Covina Police Department at their annual National Night Out to meet with our local law enforcement, build stronger community relationships, and thank all the men and women who protect and serve our neighborhoods.

If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, my office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need. While we cannot guarantee you a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response to your problem.
