Just before the country took a moment to reflect on our history over the 4th of July weekend, the House of Representatives took a major vote on deciding our future. 

They passed a major piece of  legislation that invests $1.5 trillion in creating jobs and rebuilding our economy to be better: Creating a safer, cleaner, and healthier future for all.

Here are the details of this legislation: 
 

  • It cleans up our transportation system by funding zero-emission buses and a zero-emission postal fleet, putting electric vehicle charging infrastructure into place, making roads safer for pedestrians and bicyclists, helping us move towards zero-emission ports, and funding research into sustainable aviation fuels. 
     
  • It invests in our clean energy future by setting aside funding to transform our electric grid, building on tax incentives that spur continued growth in renewable electricity and green tech, and promoting energy efficiency projects.  
     
  • It protects our communities from the impacts of the climate crisis by shoring up our coastlines and rebuilding the natural protections that have been stripped under the pressures of erosion, development, constrained rivers — and now, rising seas.
     
  • And it protects children from lead in their drinking water — providing critical funding for full lead pipe replacement and prioritizing disadvantaged and environmental justice communities. 


Americans deserve a future safe from harmful pollution that is fueling our climate crisis — and full and equitable access to lead-free drinking water.
