It’s high time that all new automobiles to leave the lot have the types of built-in, up-to-date safety features we would expect in the 21st century—like automatic emergency braking to prevent rear-enders by distracted drivers, or warning systems to let exhausted parents know that they’ve just left the car with their child asleep in the back seat.
The Moving Forward Act (HR 2)—which recently passed the House and is on to the Senate—would mandate that we include these modern “driver assistance” functions in all newly manufactured vehicles.
Tell your senators that you support the Moving Forward Act: It’s critical legislation that directs automakers to include crucial modern safety features in all new vehicles coming to market. There’s no reason to stop at seat belts and airbags—we have the technology, and Congress has the power to reduce totally avoidable car accidents and deaths.
