John –
Congressional Republicans have dragged their feet again and again. And now, we're just weeks away from critical Affordable Care Act subsidies expiring at the end of the year. Millions of working families rely on these tax credits to pay their monthly medical bills – and they'll see their premiums skyrocket if nothing is done.
What's that look like across the Midwest? Here are some examples:
-
In Iowa's 1st District, 24,000 face an average premium increase of 98%
- In Iowa's 3rd District, 25,000 face an average premium increase of 96%
-
In Michigan's 7th District, 23,000 face an average premium increase of 61%
-
In Michigan's 10th District, 34,000 face an average premium increase of 59%
-
In Nebraska's 2nd District, 31,000 face an average premium increase of 102%
-
In Wisconsin's 3rd District, 30,000 face an average premium increase of 123%
Republicans in some of the most competitive districts in the country found time this year to cut taxes for billionaires and slash Medicaid. But they couldn't be bothered to prevent their constituents from seeing healthcare premiums double in some cases.
This looming healthcare crisis happened because Congress was controlled by a party beholden to special interests, not working people. And if we want to end these types of crises, we have to flip the House in 2026.
We can start by investing early in the very districts where the GOP's failure to lead on healthcare is being acutely felt — districts right here in the Midwest.
It's going to take a wide organizing, mobilizing, and communications effort to get the job done, but we all can play our parts. Will you chip in to help Midwest Majority PAC lay the groundwork now in our target districts? The grassroots strength we start building today can and will manifest at the ballot box in 2026.
Thank you,
Midwest Majority PAC
