Right now, our troops are on the verge of missing paychecks due to the government shutdown, and Speaker Mike Johnson isn’t lifting a finger to stop it.

That's why I sent a letter demanding that the Speaker call the House back before October 15 to pass a bill that pays our service members. Plain and simple.

But instead of working with Democrats towards a solution, Speaker Johnson and this extreme MAGA-led House are on a campaign to hurt as many people as possible because they’re not getting their way.

They’re already targeting our health care, they’ve already walked away from budget talks, and now, they’re putting our military families on the line.

Republicans and Donald Trump might see our troops as political pawns. But we see them for who they are: heroes who deserve respect, and most of all, a paycheck.

This is the fight we’re in, John. And it’s why 2026 matters. We need a House that works for its people, its service members, and its democracy — not one that only answers to Donald Trump.
