Almost 10,000 people have joined our call for Christopher Luxon to stop the cuts and take real action on healthcare costs. Will you add your name?
Since we launched our open letter, more than 1,700 New Zealanders have also shared their stories with us. The message is clear: Christopher Luxon is making healthcare worse.
One person wrote: "I am 72 years old and on permanent medication for serious issues yet avoid going to the doctor for preventative help. I go when only absolutely necessary because a visit costs $69 and I can’t really afford that big bill."
A 72-year-old avoiding care because of cost. Think about what that means – conditions that could be caught early, left to worsen. That should never happen in New Zealand.
Yet it is. Christopher Luxon has chosen to fund tobacco and fossil fuel companies over healthcare. GP fees are now close to $100 in some places. Add prescriptions or tests, and people are facing bills they can't afford.
When we raised this, National dismissed it as "misinformation." They are completely out of touch with how much harder they have made life for New Zealanders. Christopher Luxon has no plan to address it.
New Zealand deserves better. That's why I'm asking you to add your name to our open letter demanding urgent action on healthcare costs.
