In a shutdown, no one wins. Real public servants — including service members, public safety officials, and civilian employees — are either furloughed or forced to work without pay, while everyone else has to go without the basic services that they rely on.

But while Democrats offered a bipartisan solution that would keep healthcare affordable, Republicans walked away, choosing the shutdown over the American people. 

I want to be clear: just because the government is shut down doesn’t mean I will stop fighting for you. I’m not going anywhere until a deal is reached that reopens the government and keeps healthcare affordable.
