Dear Friends/Amigos,
Even with the government shutdown, I haven’t stopped working for you. I’m still fighting every day for South Florida families, pushing for solutions, standing up for our values, and making sure your voices are heard in Washington.
While Senate Democrats continue blocking efforts to fund the government, House Republicans remain focused on stability and common-sense solutions to reopen it and bring certainty to American families.
In the meantime, my offices remain open and ready to assist with any case involving a federal agency. While some responses may be delayed due to the shutdown, my team and I will continue working every day to serve you and your family.
Sincerely/Atentamente,
María E. Salazar
U.S. Representative (FL-27)
| | Standing with My Fellow Republican Women to End the Shutdown | |
This week, the Republican Women’s Caucus, led by Co-Founder and Co-Chair Kat Cammack (FL-03), sent a letter to our female Democratic colleagues in the Senate urging immediate action to end the shutdown. I proudly joined my fellow Republican women in calling for swift passage of the bipartisan, clean funding bill the House approved to keep the government open and protect vulnerable families.
We highlighted the real human impact of inaction, mothers who depend on WIC to feed their babies and military families missing paychecks. The caucus also commended President Trump for using tariff revenue to provide short-term support for nutrition programs, but Congress must act. These families deserve certainty, not chaos.

| | Protecting Hispanic-Serving Institutions: Urging Restoration of $350 Million in Grants | |
As a member of the Congressional Hispanic Conference, I joined Chairman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and my colleagues in urging the Department of Education to reverse its decision to cut $350 million in discretionary grant funding for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). These cuts threaten programs that strengthen STEM education, expand research opportunities, and support Hispanic students pursuing college degrees.
HSIs serve communities where Hispanic students make up at least 25 percent of enrollment and play a vital role in preparing the next generation of Latino professionals and innovators. I’ll continue fighting to ensure these institutions receive the federal support they need to expand opportunity and keep America competitive.

| | Honoring the Victims of October 7: One Step Closer to Peace | |
Two years after the brutal Hamas terrorist attacks, I continue to stand firmly with Israel and the Jewish people. The horrors of that day, the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, must never be forgotten.
Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we are now one step closer to lasting peace in the Middle East. The hostages are coming home, and this historic agreement offers renewed hope for stability, freedom, and security in the region. When America leads, peace follows.

| | In the Media: Speaking Up for South Florida | |
This week, I joined national and local media outlets, including Carla Angola, Manny Muñoz (WIOD/iHeart), Politico Magazine, and others, to discuss the government shutdown, immigration and TPS, and the ongoing fight for freedom in Cuba and Venezuela. I’ll keep speaking on behalf of South Florida families and defending our values, faith, freedom, and opportunity, on every platform where our voice can make a difference.
