Dear Friend,
It is now Day #10 of the Schumer Shutdown, and Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats continue to block a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) unless it provides taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants.
In the Senate, 60 votes are required to end debate on a bill, so Democrats are needed to end the shutdown. While our military heroes go unpaid and essential services for veterans are at risk, Chuck Schumer is celebrating the pain of the government shutdown.
During a government shutdown, beneficiaries will continue to receive Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, VA disability payments, pensions, and SNAP benefits. For more information, please refer to the FAQs posted on our website.
Please know that throughout this shutdown, my Washington, Crestview, and Pensacola offices remain open, and we will continue serving our constituents as we always have.
Sincerely,

If Our Military isn’t Being Paid, Congress Shouldn’t Either

On Monday, Congressman Patronis requested to have his pay withheld until the shutdown ends. It is unacceptable for Members of Congress to be paid while our military personnel and federal employees are unpaid. Northwest Florida is home to Eglin Air Force Base, Hurlburt Field, NAS Pensacola, NAS Whiting Field, Duke Field, and Corry Station, which is home to thousands of military families who have already sacrificed enough. Senator Schumer needs to reopen the government and stop holding our troops hostage for his political agenda. For more, click HERE.
Calling on Banks to Stand with Servicemembers, Not Shutdown Politics

On Thursday, Congressman Patronis sent a letter to the leaders of banking, credit union, and housing trade associations urging them to provide relief to federal employees who may miss paychecks due to the Schumer Shutdown. With so many Americans living paycheck to paycheck, including the brave men and women serving in Congressional District 1, it is unacceptable for their livelihoods to be used as political leverage. Shutdown Threatens America’s Skies

On Thursday, Congressman Patronis issued two statements highlighting the impact of the Schumer Shutdown on our transportation system. Air Traffic Controllers and essential FAA personnel are working without pay, straining a system already neglected by the Biden Administration and putting American lives at risk.
